THE SHORT VERSION

  • Netflix and Hoichoi announced three strands: 14 existing titles, future Bengali premieres with Hindi, Tamil and Telugu Netflix versions, and original adaptations of selected stories.
  • The first announced new series is The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi, a folklore-horror title starring Jeetu Kamal, Solanki Roy and Paoli Dam, scheduled for November 6.
  • The announcement focuses on audiences in India. Per-title dates for the 14-title library and a total count of future series have not been announced.

The partnership connects a catalogue, new series and adaptations

Netflix and Hoichoi announced their partnership on October 22, 2026. Hoichoi describes itself as a Bengali-first streaming platform and content studio. Netflix’s announcement groups the deal into three tracks: 14 existing Hoichoi titles added to Netflix, future Hoichoi series released in more languages, and new original series adapted from selected Hoichoi stories.

Those tracks are related but different. The catalogue is existing programming; the language plan applies to series that debut during the next two years; and adaptations are a separate development project. The release says the partnership is designed to bring these stories to audiences across India.

The Netflix selection names 14 existing Hoichoi titles

The announced list is Madam Inspector, Sampurna, Lajja, Eken Sirji, Anjaan Saaye, The Curse of Parnashavari, Bloodlines, The Adventures of Daadi & Jagga, Raat Abhi Baaki Hain, Achinta: Trial By Law, Shaadi Ka Siyappa, Queens, Parineeta: A Love Story and Mahanagar. Netflix groups the collection across crime thrillers, detective mysteries, folklore horror, social and courtroom dramas, and romance.

The list lets viewers match familiar Hoichoi titles to the Netflix agreement without implying that the full Hoichoi library is moving. The Business Standard independently reports that the package includes 14 existing Hoichoi series. The 14-title figure counts named works, not seasons or episodes: Hoichoi lists Sampurna as a two-season show. Neither the list nor the category summary assigns a specific Netflix launch date to each show.

Two catalogue pages add context to the title list

Hoichoi’s Sampurna page identifies the show as a 2022 social drama with two seasons. Its visible synopsis says Sampurna raises her voice after her brother-in-law abuses his wife Nandini, whose in-laws and social expectations obstruct her search for justice. The episode rail currently shows Season 1: the first entry describes Nandini in distress after her wedding, the second her disappearance on the honeymoon and signs of abuse, and later entries the family’s pressure to retract her statement and Sampurna’s efforts to expose Raktim. The page lists six Season 1 episodes but does not show a Season 2 synopsis. These details add context to Netflix’s broad “social drama” label without implying anything about the second season.

Netflix lists The Curse of Parnashavari; Hoichoi’s catalogue uses the Bengali title Parnashavarir Shaap. Its page describes a 2023, one-season mythological horror story in which four friends anger the goddess Devi Parnashavari and seek help lifting her curse. Hoichoi lists seven episodes, with the first at 28 minutes. The shared name and plot connect the local listing to Netflix’s English title; the catalogue page gives episode-level context that the partnership announcement omits.

New Bengali premieres will have three Netflix language versions

For a Hoichoi series premiering during the next two years, the announced path is Bengali first on Hoichoi, with Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions arriving on Netflix alongside it. Netflix says those three language versions will be exclusive to its service. The arrangement lets a new story keep its Bengali premiere while reaching additional language audiences through Netflix.

This plan applies to future series, not automatically to every older title. It sets the services and languages involved, but not a monthly release pace or a fixed number of premieres. The two-year term describes the window for new Hoichoi series to use this distribution path. Here “exclusive” applies to the three Netflix language versions; the announcement separately assigns the Bengali premiere to Hoichoi.

The first new title is The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi

Netflix names The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi as the first new release. The company describes it as a folklore-horror series starring Jeetu Kamal, Solanki Roy and Paoli Dam, with a premiere set for November 6. The Business Standard independently reports the same date, cast and Bengali-first release arrangement.

That gives viewers one concrete date to add to a watchlist. The news release does not provide an episode count, plot synopsis or exact release hour. Its genre description is the one to use until the partners publish a fuller series page or trailer. It is a future-series release, separate from the 14 titles in the existing catalogue selection. Netflix’s notice says more titles will follow in the coming months.

Original adaptations are a separate development track

Netflix and Hoichoi also plan original series that reimagine selected Hoichoi stories, produced by Hoichoi Studios. This is not the same as adding the existing 14 titles to Netflix or producing Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions of a new Bengali premiere. It is a separate creative track for stories that may be reworked as new series.

The companies have not named which stories will be adapted or announced writers, casts or release dates for those projects. The confirmed detail is the production relationship and the intent to revisit selected stories; the creative treatment remains open. The announcement does not say whether the selected adaptation stories come from the 14-title list, so readers cannot match a named catalogue title to a future remake yet.

The platform’s scale puts the 14-title selection in context

The Business Standard reports that Hoichoi launched in 2017 under Indian entertainment company SVF and offers more than 2,000 hours of programming, including over 100 original productions. It also says Hoichoi Studios was established for film production in 2023. That background helps distinguish the 14-title Netflix selection from the platform’s much larger catalogue and explains why the future-series and adaptation tracks involve the studio.

The same report says Hoichoi describes its reach as more than 250 million Bengalis worldwide. That is a platform-reported audience claim, not an independent viewer count. Netflix’s partnership announcement focuses on audiences across India, while Hoichoi’s reported reach provides context for its Bengali-first identity without changing the stated market for this deal. The Business Standard places the announcement among Netflix’s third-party licensing deals, alongside agreements with French broadcaster TF1 and Brazil’s Globo; that is distribution context, not a claim that Netflix owns Hoichoi.

The announced audience is in India, with title details still to come

Netflix’s headline mentions worldwide audiences, but the release body says the partnership is intended to bring these stories to audiences across India. The confirmed language path is Bengali on Hoichoi, then Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Netflix for future series. That wording does not establish availability in every country where Netflix operates.

The announcement does not specify dates or language options for each catalogue title, the number or cadence of future series, whether the versions are dubbed or subtitled, or the names of future adaptations. Only The Cursed Temple of Kauriburi has a public premiere date. A local service page can fill in title-level availability when each work is listed. For viewers planning a watchlist, the announcement separates immediate library additions from Bengali-first premieres and a later adaptation slate.
